Andreas Graf is a Swiss concert cellist. Born in Basel into a family of doctors and musicians of long tradition he’s been a member of the Bern Symphony Orchestra since 2007 and is a regular guest cellist at other orchestras, such as the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra. He is also a guest principal cellist at the 21st Century Orchestra, a Lucerne based orchestra known for its filmmusic performances worldwide. Andreas has participated in concerts at the Lucerne Festival, the Beijing Music Festival and the London Music Festival, and – as a chamber musician – performed concerts in Europe, Asia and the United States.

Early in his career, Andreas was a first prize winner of the Swiss National Music Youth Competition, and was later bestowed with the Cultural Award of the city of Thun, Switzerland. He received his education from teachers such as Peter Hörr, Michael Sanderling, Janos Starker, Ralph Kirshbaum, Wolfgang Boettcher and Gustav Rivinius. Andreas received his diploma in performance and pedagogy at Bern University of the Arts, and his soloist diploma at University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main in 2007.

As a soloist, Andreas has collaborated with the Swiss Chamber Orchestra, the Nürnberg Symphony Orchestra, the Jena Symphony Orchestra and the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra. As a passionate chamber musician he is a member of Trio Maare, Alexandre Dubach String Quartet, Helios Quartet und Lunaare Piano Quintet. He also enjoys collaborating with his cousins Emanuel Graf (principal cellist at Bavarian State Opera) and Elena Graf (concert master at Stuttgart Opera), and has worked with many other great musicians such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Natalie Chee, Fabio Di Casola, Pawel Mazurkiewicz, Keisuke Okazaki.

Andreas has participated in various CD productions and recordings for radio. He successfully appeared as a soloist in the first public performance of the concerto for cello, guitar and orchestra by Swiss composer Jost Meier in Switzerland, which was recorded and broadcast by Swiss national radio SRF2. He also premiered compositions of Greek composer George Voukanos in a much-acclaimed concert at the Athens Megaron Concert Hall in 2017.

Andreas Graf is also a film director, film producer and cinematographer and holds a Master’s degree in business and media from Bern University. He received training at the New York Film University and directed and produced short films in Los Angeles, Valencia (Spain) and London. Several of his works have been presented at international film festivals, such as the Irvine Int. Film Festival, Columbus Int. Film Festival, Shnit Int. Film Festival and Karlsruhe 20th International Filmfestival. His short film comedy „The Laws of Attraction“, starring American actor Aaron Kuban, has won several awards, among them Silver at the California Film Awards 2016. In 2020 Andreas founded Epic Lab (www.epic-lab.com), a company specialized in Film Music & Scoring, which has led to collaboration with film composers worldwide.
